1. Eco Guardians Trade Waste Equipment
1.1 Grease Guardian
Fats, oils and grease (known as FOGs) are undesirable contaminants of grease traps and downstream sewer systems. They cause corrosion, drain blockages and odours and they increase the amount of processing that needs to be carried out at wastewater treatment stations.
Many commercial food premises are equipped with undersized grease traps (or with none at all) and the Grease guardian is approved by many Water Authorities as an adjunct to a grease trap or as a stand-alone solution.
Grease Guardian actually skims FOGs from the waste water and collects them in a convenient container so that may be safely disposed of via environmentally sound procedures.
Grease Guardian is built in stainless steel to withstand the corrosiveness of the FOGs and it has the highest safety ratings to protect operators and maintenance staff.
Units of different capacities are available for outright purchase or for rental at as little as $5:00 per day.
1.2 DrainProtectors
Solids, particularly organics, are also unwelcome in wastewater streams and it is increasingly common for Water Authorities to require that all sinks and floor drains in commercial food premises shall be fitted with physical screening devices to prevent the solids entering sewer systems.
The DrainProtector range includes four units designed for sinks, three units for in-floor installation and two units specifically designed to be integrated into floor troughs such as those found in front of kettle banks.
All units carry Watermark Certification and are WSAA Approved so that they may be connected to any waste system with confidence,
1.3 DrainGuardian
Smells and vermin commonly enter premises via floor drains. P-Traps can dry out leaving floor drains connected directly to sewers with no barrier to odours and cockroaches. Even if no smell is apparent, the drains are a haven for bacteria which can cause severe diseases.
DrainGuardian fits immediately before the floor grate and is impregnated with ionised silver – a highly effective bactericide. It kills 99.9% of water-borne and air-borne bacteria and, because of its design, it creates a liquid seal which physically prevents the passage of odours and vermin.
DrainGuardian is available as a retrofit or for new facilities and will fit tiles and concrete floors as well as vinyl surfaces.
2. Eco Guardians Organic Waste Treatment system
The elimination of organic waste rotting in landfill where it produces methane is increasingly important as a measure towards controlling greenhouse gas emissions. Transporting waste to landfill sites is also undesirable because of the associated vehicular pollution.
Not only does the Gaia System from Eco Guardians achieve these aims by processing the organic waste at source, it actually converts the waste into re-usable water and a highly nutritional soil supplement – the loop can be entirely closed.
Gaia systems can treat from 30kgs to many tonnes per day and each project can be tailor-made to fit the requirements of the site. Hundreds of systems are already in use all over the world where landfill is banned or where the cost of using it is too high. These trends have started in Australia and New Zealand where organic waste management is set to become a major requirement for all food premises.
